Borradill House is a spacious cabin for 4–6 guests, designed for families and groups to enjoy the surrounding wilderness in complete comfort - but is equally lovely and cosy for just 2 guests. Picture windows frame views across Loch Sunart to the hills beyond, while a log fire and timber panelling create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. With paths leading directly from the door into 25 acres of woodland, adventure is always just a few steps away.

SPACE TO BE TOGETHER

For larger groups of 8-10 staying in both properties, the House has long dining tables both inside and on the deck, and a big kitchen for preparing and sharing delicious local produce. There are a variety of nooks and seating areas inside to absorb larger groups on indoor days for games, crafts and reading. And the TV room and Bose speakers mean you will always have the right backdrop to your holiday.

CONNECTIVITY

Borradill is a wild location but benefits from super-fast broadband and mobile phone signal for most UK providers. The nearest shop is a 15min drive away so it is best to come prepared with provisions.

LINEN

Organic linen and towels from Soak and Sleep are laundered in Ecover non-bio. There are also beach towels and dog towels.

SUPPLIES

There are a few kitchen basics provided including bin bags, Ecover washing up liquid, Ecover dishwasher and laundry tablets, tea, coffee and olive oil. We supply Highland Soap Company organic hand wash and body wash in the bathrooms.

KIDS & DOGS

We welcome families and have a secret kids’ den area, but we must highlight that children should be supervised.

We have high chairs suitable for babies/toddlers.

We have washing stations for dogs, dog bowls and dog towels. We do charge a £50 fee per dog guest.

FOOTPRINT

Borradill is an eco project through and through. All paints used in the Cottage and House are natural and free from VOCs, all of the timber is from sustainable sources and much of the furniture is re-used or from sustainable brands.

Solar panels and extensive insulation make the properties as energy-efficient as possible. The long term management of the surrounding woodland is an effort to remove all non-native species and allow the indigenous Atlantic rainforest to thrive.

25 ACRES OF WOODLAND TO EXPLORE

Unplanned adventure from the door awaits. Footpaths weave through the woodland taking you to your firepit, to the hidden kids’ den, and past ponds and streams. The lower woodland is a tall, dark larch wood with deep shadows, moss-covered ground with smatterings of wood sorrel, chanterelles and countless other mysterious funghi and flora. The paths higher up take you through a mixed woodland of birch, gorse and oak, qwith lots of birds in spring and views out west to the Atlantic and Mull. One of the highest points is given over to the kids’ den area. With ponds, streams and rock faces we have lots of interesting visitors including otters, frogs, herons and owls. The gate at the end of the furthest north path leads directly out onto the moor, the ancient oaks and waterfalls.
